Bill March Power Training

July 6, 2010

Bill March was a four-sport athlete and wildly successful Olympic lifter.

He won the U.S. National Championship five consecutive years (1961-65) and finished third at the 1965 World Championships.

Part of the success of March at Olympic lifting was his training regimen.

March would take a break from his Olympic-style training and practice a bodybuilding/powerlifting hybrid training for 4-6 weeks.

He would perform two sets of each exercise for 4-6 reps on four-days per week training. One of his routines is posted below.

Bill March Power Training

Squats 2 x 4-6
Bent Over Row 2 x 4-6
Bench Press 2 x 4-6
Overhead Press 2 x 4-6
Barbell Curl 2 x 4-6

Notes: If four times a week is too much then reduce it to 2-3 days per week. As always, increase poundages whenever possible, eat right, get adequate rest, and drink lots of water.
